Truth is when it comes to missed strikes the hook is one of the most important pieces of the puzzle and could be the culprit when it comes to not landing fish and producing missed strikes. Find out a couple of simple solutions that will turn things around.....
First things first many spoons are mass produced and the manufacturing companies first concern is the bottom line and that's cutting corners. Hooks on many lures are dull, poor quality and not to mention weak. Purchase a quality comparable size or even a little bigger hook and replace all hooks first of all. Many quality hooks are pre sharpened but a quick test is to make sure the hook sticks to your finger nail, if the hook slides off which out marking your nail then replace or sharpen the hook. Hook sharpeners are a fisherman's best friend ensuring hooks are always very sharp. Second hook tip is if even after ensuring you have sharp hooks is to run a double hook setup ( trailing hook ). This works fabulous for fish with soft mouths and will minimize the chances of getting off. Trailing hooks are generally only run with hoochies. Third tip is to add a bead or 2 in the nose of the hoochies to get your hook closer to the end of your hoochie. That's all for now check back for more tips and tricks.
